Aspartame’s Effects On The Body

Aspartame (A.K.A NutraSweet) is found in thousands of foods today.

Aspartame (A.K.A NutraSweet) is found in thousands of foods today.

Aspartame is in so many food products today, it’s almost impossible to avoid.    Try walking down the aisles in your local grocery store; you’ll be hard-pressed to find many products without it!

There are some people who suffer reactions to aspartame.

Many aspartame reactions are often mistaken for diseases   People wonder why they cannot get relief when it would be as simple as omitting aspartame from their diet.

Common diseases that aspartame reactions can mimic are:

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), ALS, Alzheimer’s Disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome,  EMS, Epstein-Barr, Epilepsy,   Fibromyalgia, Grave’s Disease, Hypothyroidism, non-Hodgkins Lymphoma,  Lupus, Lyme Disease, Meniere’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Post-Polio Syndrome

Aspartame can also cause symptoms such as itching without a rash, hives, tingling in mouth or face, ringing in the ears.

Neurological manifestations of aspartame can be: Epileptic seizures, headaches, migraines, dizziness, unsteadiness, confusion, memory loss, severe drowsiness and sleepiness, numbness of the limbs, severe slurring of speech, hyperactivity and restless legs, atypical facial pain or tremors.

Aspartame is even found in supposed "healthy" foods like yogurt.

Vision problems include:  blindness in one or both eyes, decreased vision and/or other eye problems such as: blurring, bright flashes, squiggly lines, tunnel vision, decreased night vision, pain in one or both eyes, decreased tears.

Aspartame can heighten depression, cause aggression, personality changes, irritability or exacerbate phobias.

Other reported symptoms include:  Chest palpitations, tachycardia, (rapid heart beat) shortness of breath, high blood pressure.

The makers of Aspartame swear the stuff is safe. It’s from a “natural” source, an amino acid they’ll tell you.   They’ll cite industry-funded studies which is the same as letting the fox into the chicken coop:  lies abound!

Since 1980, following an independent board of inquiry, aspartame was not found to be safe. Additional study on the effects of aspartame were requested to the FDA by  this board. However, with the election of Ronald Regan, a new FDA commissioner was  appointed and aspartame was approved.

What they don’t tell you is that aspartame, although an amino acid (aspartic acid) is an “excitotoxin” meaning that it stimulates cells (excite) to the extent that they die (apoptosis), destroying neurons. In the brain this is not a good thing. Phenyalanine, although found in proteins and as a component of aspartame, when isolated, it becomes neurotoxic, interferes with anti-depressants and other drugs.

Diabetics and the diet-conscious world have been hoodwinked into believing that aspartame is safe. I’ve been verbally attacked for speaking out against NutraSweet and aspartame.  Too bad!  I’ll continue to spread all the information I can regarding aspartame in the hope that there’s one person out there who will think twice about using this poison!
